While Southie may be the de-facto "Irish" neighborhood to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day, there are a few pubs throughout the city that are MY go-to when I'm in the mood for a Guinness and Shepherd's Pie.
Starting with the venerable J. J. Foley's Cafe in the South End. This pub has been in business for almost 115 years and is located in a nonchalant spot in the SoWa District of Boston's South End. You can find them at 117 E Berkeley St, Boston, MA 02118.
My second pick is going to be Emmets in Downtown Boston. Slender and clad in dark colors and wood throughout, this is the real deal. I get the Guiness Beef Pie or Shepard's Pie. You can find Emmets at 6 Beacon Street Boston, MA 02108.
