Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum | Best Neighborhood Diversion, Fenway
The Stewart Gardner Museum truly is a gem in Boston. Isabella was an avid collector and philanthropist who donated her home and all the works of art for public enjoyment. The only stipulation? All the items in her home has to remain as she had them while living in the home.
Last year, the ISG Museum celebrated 10 years of Third Thursdays, which feature live music, champagne and gallery games!
In 1990, one of the largest successful art heists occurred at the museum, which result in the loss of 13 works of art. These works of an estimated value of over $500 million dollars, and are yet to be recovered and returned to the empty frames that still hang on the walls.
